We've kicked off!

We've kicked off, with a great start on our donations towards the Give A Fork! campaign.

Our challenge this week is to compost everything that we can, and find a glass container that would challenge our family to avoid landfill at all costs.  To help up along, the glass jar will sit on our bench as a reminder to each member of our family.

Here's an interesting fact The Give a Fork! campaign shared with us.  Each year Australian families contribute enough rubbish to fill a three bedroom house from floor to ceiling, what isn't recycled or reused goes to landfill.

A perfect fact to drive home why we need to keep our landfill to a minimum (glass jar).  We'll keep you posted about our progress.

Recipe to keep you cool on Wednesday

The weather prediction tomorrow is set to reach 31 degrees. Here's a simple and delicious recipe to keep all the family happy on a hot afternoon.

Mint Sorbet

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup fresh mint leaves
  • 3 cups milk
  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup glucose syrup

Blend all the ingredients together in a blender, pour the mixture into a 20cm x 20cm metal cake tin, and place it in the freezer for approximately 3 hours or until it is set.   Take your sorbet out of the freezer and cut it into frozen chunks.  In batches blend the frozen chunks in the blender again until smooth.  It is now sorbet!  Return it to the freezer for one hours for one last time before serving to the family.  Enjoy!

Thanks for your support and for being you. See you this weekend at the Markets!
